Rosemount Estate, Shiraz Cabernet 2008, is it a good year?
I have tasted it and it is not half as nice as previous years in my opinion but i am not expert.
That is because for the last couple of years there has been a drought in Australia and all their vines are dry farmed, meaning they don’t water them on a regular basis.
It also was hot, and hot weather for long extended periods of time is not good for the grapes.
Ideal climate would be a rainy winter, mild spring, warm summer, but not hot, and then a short heatwave just prior to picking to boost the sugar levels.
Warm days and cool nights and lots of hang time make for excellent wines
